When she was elected as an Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner in 2014, Allyson Carpenter became the youngest ever elected official in Washington, DC. Shortly after, she was elected as the Howard University Student Body President.

Currently, Allyson currently manages development projects across the country for the nation's leading affordable housing developer. Prior to that, she worked on housing policy for the DC Council. She started her career as a political appointee of DC Mayor Muriel Bowser.
